Olivia

Love can heal and love can make you soar, but Nate’s expression said my love had broken him. The thought of Nate not knowing how much I wanted him back shattered me. As his eyes filled with utter confusion, he waited for me to continue.
“Then why didn’t you ask me?” Nate scowled. “What changed your mind? Or should I say who changed your mind?” He didn’t wait for me to answer. Instead, he gripped his hair with his fists and walked away.
“It isn’t what you think.” I searched for the best words to explain.
I might have screwed up finding the right words. It was hard to concentrate with him standing there shirtless, water dripping slowly down his chest from his wet hair. God, he looked sexy as hell. He had no idea what he was doing to me. I wanted to lick every single drop. In my mind, my hands traveled all over his toned chest, wiping away the water like I was his towel.
Nate glared at me, unbelieving, as if he expected me to lie. Then he rushed to me and punched the wall with an expression of rage I’d never seen. His body so close to mine, almost touching, caused my focus to slip away.
“Don’t fuck with me, Olie,” he gritted through his teeth. “It isn’t what I think? I wasn’t given the chance to think.” He pointed to himself. “There wasn’t much to think when I saw Troy practically on top of you.”
I had known that moment would cause me problems. Nate’s expression eased when I began to tremble. His anger and how he’d reacted seemed to surprise him, too. I found my composure again and continued before he had another episode that was so out of character. There was no going back.
“I couldn’t tell you because of Troy. Not because I wanted to be with him, but because I was scared of him.”
“What?” His eyebrows pinched at the center, and his pitch rose again. “What do you mean you were afraid of him? Did he threaten you? Did he hurt you?”
When I nodded through unrelenting tears, Nate guided me to the bed with his hand on my back. I wiped my cheeks and sat next to him. His proximity drove me insane, especially when my hand accidently grazed his chest.
“Tell me everything.” he said softly, but it was more of a demand. I could tell his anger had turned toward Troy and away from me.

Blurb:
My dreams were simple. College, a career, and let’s see what happens from there. But things don’t always go according to plan.

My name is Ari Worthington and I’ve had a very eventful week. A life-changing week. The kind of week that would make the average person whimper.

It started when my ex-boyfriend Luke accosted me in the woods.

How badly was I injured? Not a scratch. And Luke? Not so lucky. Nope, I whupped him good. It surprised the heck out of me. And it probably surprised him, too—once he woke up.

And then I met Davin. Handsome, witty, amazing Davin. Perfect in every way, unless you think being an alien, from a planet called Olympus, might be a liability.

When it comes to being a husband and wife (or wife and husband) writing team, there are advantages, or benefits. Chief among them is that you get to practice the love scenes. He writes, she steers, and…well, it’s fun. He is a software designer and she is a doctor of education. AJ and CS Sparber live in the lovely town of Hudson, Ohio, with their son Ryan, their daughter Melanie, and the spirit of an Aussie shepherd named Hunter.

I don’t want to be alone in the guest suite. It’s not that I’m afraid. I just want Davin close to me. I need the comfort only he can provide.

“I’d rather not sleep alone tonight.”

“Ari, your mother—I promised her.”

“I don’t intend for us to do anything that would cause that promise to be broken. Please?”

He moves to my side and places his hand on my shoulder. “Are you sure?”

I stand up and wrap my arms around his neck. “I’m very sure,” I whisper, speaking directly to his heart. “I want you near me.”

“I know you do. But…”

“No buts,” I say softly. “I’m an angel. And I happen to be in love with you.”

He looks startled. He looks as if he wants to speak, but he can’t find his voice.

“Do you not want me to love you, Davin?”

He arches his brow and stares.

I’m getting worried. Did I just make a complete fool of myself? “Davin?”

His poise seems to return and he smiles. “It happened the night we slept on your sofa—”

“What? What happened?” Did I miss something? Something important?

His smile widens and lights up his eyes. They’re sparkling like jewels.

“I fell in love with you that night.”

My heart flutters and I feel warm all over. “You did?”

He nods slowly. “I did.”

“You didn’t tell me.”

“I wasn’t sure how you felt. Love between two angels is a very powerful force. It is...”

“Forever,” I say, completing his thought. “Are you afraid I don’t understand that? Do you think my human side makes me prone to frivolous fits of infatuation? Because if you do, please allow me to set you straight.” I take a long breath and gaze into his eyes. “I am in love with you, there will never be anyone else, and that’s all there is to it.”

He shakes his head and chuckles.

“What?”

“This is why I love you.”

“It is? What is?”

“I believe the term is moxie. You are bold and fearless. You are spunky.”

“You love me because I’m spunky?”

“Well, that…and because you are kind, and selfless, and brilliant, and very beautiful?”

“You think I’m all that?”

He loses his voice again and just stares.

“Davin?”

“Come here, my Padawan.”

Before I can respond, he laces his fingers through my hair and pulls me tight to his chest. “You are the most extraordinary angel ever born and I…I am the most fortunate.”

He kisses the top of my head, as he whispers, “Forever and never ending.”

His words and his touch make me shudder with ecstasy. “Kiss me, Davin. Kiss me like your life depends on it.”

“It does,” he says, as he captures my upper lip softly between his teeth.

Our kiss deepens and I smile inside, because I realize that each kiss we share seems to be better than the ones before, and we have eons of time and kisses to look forward to.

~Guest Post~ Resolution by Andrew Joyce

It is 1896 in the Yukon Territory, Canada. The largest gold strike in the annals of human history has just been made; however, word of the discovery will not reach the outside world for another year.
By happenstance, a fifty-nine-year-old Huck Finn and his lady friend, Molly Lee, are on hand, but they are not interested in gold. They have come to that neck of the woods seeking adventure.
Someone should have warned them, “Be careful what you wish for.”
When disaster strikes, they volunteer to save the day by making an arduous six hundred mile journey by dog sled in the depths of a Yukon winter. They race against time, nature, and man. With the temperature hovering around seventy degrees below zero, they must fight every day if they are to live to see the next.
On the frozen trail, they are put upon by murderers, hungry wolves, and hostile Indians, but those adversaries have nothing over the weather. At seventy below, your spit freezes a foot from your face. Your cheeks burn—your skin turns purple and black as it dies from the cold. You are in constant danger of losing fingers and toes to frostbite.
It is into this world that Huck and Molly race.
They cannot stop. They cannot turn back. They can only go on. Lives hang in the balance—including theirs.

My name is Andrew Joyce and I write books for a living. Amber has been kind enough to allow me a little space on her blog to promote my new novel RESOLUTION: Huck Finn’s Greatest Adventure. I think it’s a good book, but what do I know? Anyway, I’m kinda shy about tooting my own horn. So I think I’ll turn things over to my dog Danny—Danny the Dog. He always has an attitude and usually does not speak highly of me. But please understand that we co-exist as the old Soviet Union and the United States once co-existed. We tolerate each other. So without further ado, here’s Danny.
Andrew took me away from watching reruns of Lassie to help him out here. For a person that works with words for a living, he has very little to say in real life. He wants me to tout his book for him, but I don’t think I will. Instead, I think I’ll tell you about our latest adventure. We’re always having adventures. I like to write about them and what I write is 100% true.
To run or not to run, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? . . . to paraphrase Billy Shakespeare.
Howdy, folks. It's me, Danny the Dog. I live on a boat with my human, Andrew. Today, I'm here to speak about outrageous fortune and the outrageous fortune of which I speak is the insidious leash he makes me wear. I mean . . . really . . . just because I've run away a few times, he thinks I can't be trusted. I'm a big boy—I'm ten years old! I can go out catting (excuse the expression) around at night and still make my way home all by myself.
So here's my problem. Andrew doesn't use a regular leash like any sane person would. No, he's gotta use a line from the boat . . . a twenty-foot-long line, or rope to you landlubbers out there. It's downright demeaning.
The other night we went to a local biker bar. Andrew doesn't like going there because he's a sissy and he thinks the bikers will beat him up, but I bring him anyway. I love the place because the biker girls always crowd around me and pet me and tell me how cute I am. I know that, but it's always nice to hear. Especially when it comes from women with multiple tattoos claiming they are the property of Big Bear or Grunge or whomever. It makes me feel special.
So there we are, Andrew is sitting by himself—naturally. And I'm the star of the show with the females of the pack—naturally. Now, because Andrew does not trust me, he has me tied to a post (it's an outdoor bar). It was then that it happened. One of the girls felt sorry for me and unclasped the leash. Well, partners, I took off like a bat outta you-know-where, but I didn't go far. I just wanted to teach Andrew a lesson.
I ran around to the back and hid under a small tool shed, and there I stayed and watched Andrew walk around calling my name. He passed within feet of me about a hundred times. After a while, I felt sorry for the guy and I let my presence be known by a single bark.
To cut my story short, I miscalculated. I thought if I made Andrew look for me and then showed up on my own, he would forego the leash. But it didn't work out that way. Now I find myself indoors 24/7, unless I'm taking Andrew for a walk. And then, of course, I’m on the damn leash!
So, my friends, in conclusion, I’d like to quote another great writer, the poet Robert Burns:
"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men often go astray."
That’s about it for now. If I hurry, I might be able to catch that old Rin Tin Tin movie on TCM.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot—go out and buy Andrew’s book and man an old man happy.
This is Andrew again. On behalf of Danny and myself, I would like to thank Amber for having us over. It’s been a real pleasure.

~Review Blitz~ Demigods and Monsters by Raye Wagner

Title: Demigods and Monsters
Author: Raye Wagner
Genre: YA urban mythology
Hosted by: Lady Amber's PR

Blurb:
Can Apollo’s curse be broken?
Seventeen-year-old Hope Nicholas is done running. Apollo’s curse has ruled her entire life, limiting her choices and robbing her of the things that matter most. But she refuses to live in fear any longer. In fact, she’s ready to do whatever it takes to break the god’s power over her existence.
When the goddess Artemis instructs Hope to impersonate a demigod and infiltrate a conservatory to get access to the Olympian library, she doesn’t hesitate. As she sees it, there’s nothing left to lose.
But once inside, Hope discovers the only way to get what she needs is to work with her sworn enemies. As the lines between demigod and monster are crossed again and again, Hope has to dig deep for the courage to accept her fate or fight for the freedom to save herself.
Demigods and Monsters is the second book in the Sphinx series.

OMG!!! Raye Wagner is really killing me with this one. Just as Athan seems to be back with Hope, she's gone again. I really enjoyed reading this series. So up beat, constantly having me on my toes. The drama is never ending. Loved the new characters that were introduced in Demigods and Monsters, I kinda have a love hate relationship with Xan. Only because I like Athan better but Xan is hot too lol While Hope is still learning to live as an immortal and become stronger, it seems there are those out there only to bring her down. However, she is one determined Sphinx and isnt about to let Apollo or anyone else stand in her way. She is determined to find out more about her Curse and how to live her own life. Demigods and Monsters was even better than the first book in this series, which was hard to beat. Makes me excited to see what's in store for us in book thre. I really loved the characters, and how the author showed there was more to them than just being gods. Def one of my fave mythology books out there and Ive read several. If mythology is your thing, then you def need to read this series.

Raye Wagner grew up in an urban fantasy just outside of Seattle, Washington. As the second of eight children, she was surrounded by monsters, demons, and her sometimes mortal parents. She read heaps of fantasy while locked away in the upstairs room of the family cottage.

Raye studied the art of medicine long before she had an interest in the Gods on Mount Olympus.

One sunny afternoon, the history of Apollo’s ancient curse and the myth of the Sphinx dropped into her consciousness, and she’s been scribbling and typing stories in her spare time ever since.
Raye writes young adult fiction for teens and adults.

Hope went into the sparse guest room and closed the door behind her. She let out a long, slow exhale and leaned against the door.
“How long have you been at the conservatory?”
Hope yelped. Turning around, she noticed Athan sitting on the edge of the bed.
“Sorry.” He was quickly at her side. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“Then what the Hades are you doing in my room with the light off?” Hope flicked the light on and glared at him.
“Right.” He took a step back. “Sorry. I wanted to talk to you, and you left abruptly.”
Hope clenched her teeth. “Oh. Well then, it’s all okay. Come on in.” Sarcasm dripped with the words. “What do you need to say?”
Athan frowned. “What’s with the hostility? Did I do something to you?”
She sputtered in her attempt to say anything, but words formed and disappeared before she could get them out. Finally, she said, “I trusted you.” She knew she was being irrational, but all the pent-up emotion erupted, blasting into the air between them. “I don’t even know what to believe anymore.”
Athan reached his hand out to touch her face, but something in her expression made him hesitate before contact. He dropped his hand to his side. “I never lied to you, Hope.”

QUOTES:

"Friggin' unbelieable
Out of all the places Mandy could have taken me,
she's just managed to find the one place with the one guy
I hoped to never see again.
Judging from the way he acted, almost kicking me off
his property, he was pissed.
Like, really pissed.
Like I-had-no-sex-pissed.
